Google Home – Moms New Best Friend

This year our family decided to purchase a Google Home Mini and I love it. Of course, I really bought it for my husband but it has turned in to a tool I use every day.

Being a stay at home Mom that also works from home our days can be hectic, I love being able to tell Google to play some music for the kids to get them dancing and moving, I love being able to tell Google to add something to my shopping list before that key item is lost from my brain. My kids will spend hours asking Google to play games, tell jokes and even using it as an intercom system to talk to each other.

Along with the Google home, we have started setting up home automation, I never knew how handy being about to turn a light on with my voice was until you are entering a dark room caring a child and an armload of groceries.

What Google Home Does

Home Organization:

Ask Google “Whats my day” to hear your daily commute, your first appointment of the day, weather update and headline news.

Set Daily Reminders, Timers, and Alarms

Add things to a shopping list

Find your phone – This is my favorite thing, I lose my phone pretty my everyday.

Make Phone Calls

Plays Music – Spotify Google Music, my kids love being able to play their favorite songs all day long

Play videos using your Chromecast,  Netflix, and Youtube are favorites in this house.

Stories – snow white, Cinderella, Goldilocks

Talk to an ai therapist – “Talk to Eliza”

Home Automation:

Smart Home Routines – Set lights on timers

Adjust Smart Thermostats, turn on and off a light, lock doors and even start the coffee maker.

Google broadcast – Allows you to use multiple google homes as an intercom system

I love household assistants. I use Siri in my car all the time, and I personally have an Alexa at home. It’s so nice!

I have not yet tried one of these, but we do have the amazon Echo. I would be interested in doing a direct comparison!

It is simply amazing what technology has become. I have to admit I’m behind when it comes to all of these new devices, but this one sounds fantastic and something I would love to try out. Can it write out a blog entry for you? LOL! Thanks for sharing your experience and talking me into investigating further.
